Neelum is the bait for Delhi's 'Eve Teasers' - the men who stop their cars to proposition women for sex. She is also a police officer and the latest culprit is a middle-aged man who refuses to show remorse. In frustration Neelum slaps him and shouts abuse. The low status of India's women has an even more sinister face. Up to 5000 women are killed each year in disputes over dowries. Many are burnt to death by their husband's family in fake accidents. The motive is greed. Some women now find courage to complain to the police. A couple battles out their dowry disagreement before a police mediator. Others barely escape with their lives. Anita fled to a women's shelter after 4 years of beatings and death threats. Despite the problems traditions remain strong and 99% of marriages still involve a dowry. A candid insight into the continuing abuse inside Indian families.

| If dowry death is a crime the girl's parents are the main culprits who donot want to take her back home and let her suffer in her husband's house. The govt has done nothing in this regard just by putting blame on the husband's family. |

| According to the customs of their religion and the position they are put in ordained by generations of religion and tradition, they are unable to do so unless the family can financially provide education for them. Even more so, these women are not in a privilaged class which makes it even more difficult to be independent. Things just aren't that simple. |

| True , it doesnot happen now but cases are up!! Because every death of a woman is dowry death. The police, the judge, the advocate, the in laws everyone is greedy for money. If people are asking for dowry why do you get married to such a guy? the answer is because of the greed for a good/wealthy husband. |

| Dowry killing is not increased, the cases registered with dowry has increased. Now MORE EDUCATED people are filing a dowry case even our EDUCATION(HR) MINISTER Arjun Singh has a dowry case against him but now Women's minister comes to his help says it is a FALSE CASE. How does she know it is a false case? More false cases are increasing because dowry law is just one of the 3 laws that can get you arrested immediately Rape Murder and Dowry |

| The problem does not generate from in-laws commiting thses horrendus crimes but from parents who falsly think that comsumer goods and money will make their daughter's life happy and better beginnig. That is where the greedy becomes more greedy. Also, parents need to empower their daughters'so that when abuse is felt they are able to stand up for themselves and not look at anyone else or the LAW for help. I believe there is no law in India. Its all for money and money for all. |
