Okaaaaaay, you get no disagreement from me there. Look, first and foremost we start with personal conservation and less waste. That's a given. But as Ms. Korin states, conservation is not enough, and we need to take it a step further to wean ourselves off of oil... Forgive me, but I'm under the impression that you either haven't watched her videos all the way through, or are not paying much attention to what she has to say.

You are the one who is in denial. This presentation is about not using oil in the transportation sector, not about radical Islam. Some of the money we spend on oil is being used to pay for suicide bombing in the name of Islam. Exaggerated? Maybe, but if just one petrodollar goes to pay for such criminal acts, that's a good reason to stop using oil in our vehicles. There are other reasons too. Islam is not the issue. Our economy is being ruined by oil addiction. That's the issue!

while i agree with her proposal to use flex fuels, i don't believe regulations should be placed on manufacturers by the government to do so. she used airbags and seat belts as comparable examples to "must-haves" but those are safety features... very different. to enforce these regulations just because the "microsoft" of oil is being unfair does not fall into the definition of a free market. if you look at video 6of7, i take the last guy's stance against her position.

Dude, during world war II the US also ordered the manufacturers to change their production. This is bigger, its about saving our lives and freedom. Reduce the dependability on oil.

Peak Oil says we cannot depend on bio fuels, it will start a soil crisis. Nice video to compare views. There is always a bigger picture... environmentalists' assurances that biofuels will save us. No way... Save yourselves ;-] watch?v=f7i6roVB5MI
It's interesting to ... ( 3 days ago by Teratornis)
It's interesting to see conservatives trying to get their minds around peak oil. The conservative/libertarian movement depends on two things: 1. Resources are unlimited 2. There are no unpriced values (i.e., no externalities), and therefore free markets are perfect allocators of scarcity You can see Ms. Korin's misunderstanding when she refers to "producing" oil as if she believes oil "producers" really "produce" something. This is like "producing" food by opening a can.
The free market did ... ( 3 days ago by Teratornis)
The free market did not see Hitler coming. Only governments have the ability to look ahead like that and dictate the correct policies when the market fails to price in a looming future risk. The current price of oil completely fails to account for the future cost of running out of oil, and the decades of hard work that will be necessary to build whatever comes after oil. The market will always be many steps behind that curve, because individual consumers have no clue.

Saving lives? haha. ... ( 3 days ago by daleyjem)
Saving lives? haha. Yeah right. This lady's talking about regulations because "it's just not fair." If her argument were solely based on flex fuels being more eco-friendly, then so be it, but the reasoning for HER regulations is what distorts freedom.
Hitler ate free ... ( 3 days ago by Teratornis)
Hitler ate free markets for lunch. Only massive increases in government power enabled the Allies to defeat Hitler. The U.S. is fighting a war against radical Islam. As far as I know, no country ever won a war without inconveniencing its citizens. The U.S. should ration gasoline again, either by coupons or by fuel taxes, to reduce the revenue flowing to OPEC. Biofuels are great but they aren't nearly enough. We must also become drastically less mobile.

no, brave men and women defeated hitler... like they did during the revolutionary war (when a government was not even yet established). i'm sorry you have your facts wrong.
