stop calling things "smooth" jazz... the whole genre of "smooth" jazz isn't even jazz as it is an extremely dumbed down style using little soul and vocabulary. This however IS beautiful and certainly not "smooth" jazz.

honestly, i don't have anything adequate... it's just jazz, ya know? The umbrella of jazz is so unbelievably large it's tough to categorize things like this. I am just VERY impartial to the term "smooth jazz" because nowdays that refers to crappy drum-machine, fake string sounds, and trite octave-guitar riffs. That brand of "smooth jazz" is in NO way jazz... but THIS is.

It should be called "Pop Jazz", and it can be pretty cheesy... but who's to say what jazz is? Coltrane and his free jazz contemporaries had their critics. I happen to agree that much of smooth jazz is trite, but just because it doesn't suit our tastes does not mean it is not Jazz.
