Uggh it's so incredibly hard to play loud and strong with brass and not break the sound. I played this piece on trombone and I played my maximum and people in the audience still said we could have been louder

I don't know if this helps: but European brass does sound different to USA and UK brass because the instruments that they play on are often slightly different and, as can be heard here, the USA and UK players favour a very pure straight sound whereas in mainland Europe players tend to add more vibrato when they play.
