what i can tell out of the song, is that its about people living a lie, the fake castle is a reprisentaion of that, the rain ruinin it seems to show that eventually the lies and secrets we hide or hide behind eventually get exposed in one way or the other, the lines "what a pity its come this far" might be saying that we have become so used to the lies that even as its falling apart around us we still try to save our illusion of life..but as you can see in the video, its useless. i may be wrong

in response to my old comment, im leaving the bands meaning 2, although to each person it could mean something different. "It is more about the decay of the castle, how even though you worked hard at building something others will come in and use if for their own gain, the feeling of safety and well-being should come from inside"

I reckon its about the illusion of progress, particularly with reference to the line "what a pity we've come this far". Our buildings often serve as symbols of our progress, so the cardboard castle might serve to demonstrate the transience of human achievement.
