And Newfs have a deep appreciation for capitalism. One time Tiger Woods was drivin' his Ford Fusion through Newfoundland, and at a gas station, while bending to pick up the nozzle, two tees fell out of his shirt pocket.
"What are dose?" asked the attendant. "They're called tees," replied Tiger. "Well, what on god's earth are dey for?" inquired the attendant. "They're for resting my balls on when I'm driving," said Tiger. "Lardtunderin!" said the Newf, "Ford tinks of everything!"

Lol, yes, my friend, an old Tiger Woods joke that's everywhere all over the net, but also a Newfie joke in its own little special way. Vinny from vinland envites you over his place someday for lots of vino or sauce (to loosen you up and snap you out of your spock trance) and a meal (ever have things like fried cod tongues or our delicacy of seal flipper that's rotted just right before cookin'?--no jokin' there. I won't tell you what's what till after) guaranteed to put more hairs on your chest.

My grandfather helped JoeySmallwood choose Canada after The Brits let Newfoundland go. Truely independent at thast time. All alone. Remember? My grandpa was a socialist who was also a champion swimmer (better than the Brits) who saved three drowning young lives. My mother watched him saved two of them. The other is more poetic. But you know, Ayn, phiosophically, would jump in with him. Check out "emergencies" in the Ayn Rand Lexicon. Ha, dippin' into the sauce again and checkin' my spelling!

My friend, if you were drowning, too, I would jump in to save you...or anyone else. I told you this over a year ago when we first started talkin'. But I have learned more about Ayn Rand, since then. A great woman, no? (Sexy, too. I have a picture of her in her twenties. Her eyes are far more hypnotic than Betty Davis.) Ha, just google the Newfoundland dog! I call him the General of all dogs. The strongest dog in the world, but smart, brave and very gentle with children.

Yes, you referred me to him some time ago. There is truth in what Barthe, (the scriptor of this essay, as well, I imagine) is saying. But I think he goes too far. I mean, when I read a book of, say, Tim Bowling's poems, I can't help but feel a kind of transcendent closeness to the poet-person, as well. I feel that this is not all to do with the words printed on the paper and my interpretative participaction as the reader--these poetic children of thought were born from out of the poet's mind.

that is going too far.

I guess I must be some kind of redneck intellectual or something. If I were about to meet Tim Bowling for the first time, today, I know that I would truly know him to some extent better than someone who has never met him, nor read his poetry.
I'm a pretentious authority who's going too far?! Who necessarily wants to be more accurate, anyway? That can be a blunder, also--the interpreters of the interpreters of the interpreters can go so far as to make it alien to the original thinker, no?

I remember your reaction to Leonard Peikoff's book, "Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand." You described Peikoff as "the party" and "a pimp", and I think this is because he gives her more life and credit for her words than you would like. In Ayn Rand's book, "Anthem", it is said that Ayn wrote, "Dr. Peikoff's course is the only authorized presentation of the entire theoretical structure of Objectivism, ie., the only one that I know of my knowledge to be fully accurate,"

it was his duty to preserve the intellectual
integrity of ayn, as she got older. i do not
think he did. peikoff had to know that in
law of identity, a is a. he ignored the fact
that symbolic "a" has no actual referents
in the real world he says objectivism is to
come to terms with. furthermore there is
a subject-predicate form and the verb is
problematic as the basis of his thesis. in

Tired, have to get in a few before graveyard. But no, I gave you Ayn Rand's exact words that Peikoff is right on the money about her philosophy, objectivism. Her words. Your idea of it's being "his duty" would be repugnant to her. And she never spoke out against him in the later years right up to her death bed. I think you would be surprised if you ever met her one on one.
The concept of identity was arrived implicitly to babies. Then became explicit with measurement ommis., etc. Refers back.

measurement omission, is the
way that verbal symbols keep
inconsistent attitudes abstract
concepts and generally united
before they're seen particular

of saying, i'm the subject and
what i see is the object, then i .
classify it.
